I’m A Google City Expert of Atlanta! Friday 18 July, 2014
This is the city of Atlanta, and now there is an opportunity where people can be an expert of this city with the platform of Google. Google literally took over Atlanta by hosting a spectacular event introducing their new program, City Experts, where one literally becomes the voice of the city and document the best places in Atlanta via Google.
What is a Google City Expert?
A person who becomes an expert on all the places to eat, shop and play within your city. A Google City Expert receives exclusive perks by writing local reviews with their honest opinions. Below are the benefits:
Becoming a Google Atlanta City Expert is right up my alley. I have lived in Atlanta for a very, VERY long time and as you all can tell on my blog I frequent this city a lot for lots of cool places and experiences. This is why my blog is about, discovering new places, fun, excitement and thrills and what better platform to share more of my opinions than the best search engine on the face of this Earth? Google is always up for modern innovations and utilizing new ways to enhance their platforms, so now the consumers can do more than just search for things within Google, a Google City Expert is now somewhat a contributor to Google! I am down with that!

The event was hosted at Ventanas for a rooftop party featuring highlights of Atlanta’s legendary food, drink and street art scene. It was provided with yummy appetizers prepared by local chefs, enjoy delicious desserts from King of Pops, and sip on specialty Google cocktails created with Atlanta in mind. It was an amazing turn-out with plenty of Atlanta’s socialites and tastemakers mingle and enjoying the positive atmosphere and of fun and summer excitement.
So one of the cool things at the party is that there was a big lifesize Google Streetview Map of Atlanta with a makeshift station where you can fill out little cut post-it pins of your favorite places in Atlanta and posting it up. I love innovative concepts list and people filled the map with actual (and fictional) places of the city.
Of course I found Chipotle. I mean I basically live there so there are those apples…

But one of my absolute favorite parts about this event was that the guest were able to get a full 360 panaramic view of the city by going up the exclusive Helipad for an amazing view of the Atlanta skyline. This is hands down the Best View of Atlanta. We took pictures next too the Google logo here as well (pictured above with Ashley) as well as I had to get a live Insta-video in action (below). I love the newest Atlanta attraction ferriswheel SkyView, its so pretty lit up at night, and eventually I will make an occasion to visit (and blog of course).

I cannot wait to start sharing my knowledge of the city by being a Google City Expert. You can join too here and start the journey. It’s not limited to Atlanta – its in various cities throughout the USA and internationally. Check to see if your city is participating yet and stay tuned for the expansion. I know a few people who’ve worked with Google in the past and they all say wonderful things about them. This is a fantastic opportunity, and with Google backing you…you can do anything and everything. The blog posts to come will be outstanding! 🙂
I haven’t visited Atlanta (more than flying through) since 2000. I used to have family there I would visit regularly and we always went to the Underground city area. I remember shopping down there. Wow, 14 years ago. This event looked like a lot of fun and I need to check into being a City Expert in my area for Google. Sounds great.
