Live from NY ‘Saturday Night Live’ to Return Oct. 3 With New Live Episodes Saturday 12 September, 2020

“Saturday Night Live” is set to return this fall with its first new live episode since the coronavirus pandemic started. NBC just announced the premiere date of the next season of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. SNL will launch its 46th season on October 3 and air live on NBC at 11:30 p.m. ET / 8:30 p.m. PT.
NBC said that the new “S.N.L.” episodes would originate from Studio 8H, the show’s longtime home in the network’s Rockefeller Center headquarters in Manhattan.
SNL aired for the 1st time Oct 11th, 1975, so the October return is very timely and in alignment of its 46th year of the most popular and longest running sketch comedy series in the history of American television.
UPDATE
Chris Rock will take the stage in Studio 8H as host of “Saturday Night Live’s” 46th season premiere on Oct. 3. This will mark Rock’s third appearance as host.
The multiple Emmy and Grammy Award winner stars in the fourth installment of FX’s critically acclaimed drama series “Fargo,” launching Sept. 27.
Megan Thee Stallion will make her “SNL” musical guest debut. Her latest album, “Suga,” has garnered over 900 million streams to date and spawned this summer’s smash hit and 3x platinum single, “Savage.”
After nearly seven months, the premiere will mark the first in-studio edition of ‘SNL’. Before the coronavirus pandemic shut down production, the show’s last episode aired on March 7, with Daniel Craig hosting. According to wikipedia.com, SNL has also had an effect on American elections—most commonly presidential elections. Voters have reported that political sketches shown on the program influenced them in the voting booth. So it is no coincidence that the show would return a month prior to the upcoming 2020 elections as well.
Despite the pause of the series, “Saturday Night Live” goes into the Sept. 20 Emmy Awards with 15 nominations, including Outstanding Variety Sketch Series.
“Saturday Night Live” will launch its 46th season on Oct. 3 and air live on NBC at 11:30 p.m. ET / 8:30 p.m. PT.

Thank you for the update on when SNL is returning. How interesting that it returns in October when it first started in October so many decades ago. It will be really interesting to see what they do in a month’s time with their normal political satire, but I’m expecting some good laughs.
