MARLON WAYANS ATLANTA MEDIA DINNER FOR NBC’s MARLON Thursday 10 August, 2017
I am so excited to talk about this upcoming media mixer and dinner with the talented Marlon Wayans. Many of us know one of the youngest Wayans as the stars from classic shows and movies such as The Wayans Bros, Scary Movie, Haunted House and more! Everyone loves the Wayans family and Marlon is coming into his own with his own show on NBC self-titled “MARLON” that myself and other Atlanta media got to personally chat with him about.
Description: Loosely inspired by the real life of star Marlon Wayans (“In Living Color,” “Scary Movie”), this update to the classic family comedy centers on a loving (but sometimes inappropriate) father committed to co-parenting his two kids with his very-together ex-wife. While his misguided fatherly advice, unstoppable larger-than-life personality and unpredictable Internet superstardom might get in the way sometimes, for Marlon family really always does come first — even if he’s the biggest kid of all.

The cast includes Marlon Wayans, Essence Atkins, Notlim Taylor, Amir O’Neil, Bresha Webb and Diallo Riddle.Christopher Moynihan serves as writer and executive producer. It was cool to do this roundtable interview with Marlon to talk about his self-title show that is debuting on NBC August 16th. Marlon The funny modern day sitcom is what television is needing today. It gives you the feel of how sitcoms were in the 90s and even had this done in front of a live studio audience. We are in the television age of extreme drama shows or reality television. It’s very few shows and in between that are comedy focused in 2017. We need more laughter, and what’s even better is laugher that is family focused. Marlon highly reminds me of Damon’s Wayans 2001-2005 highly successful sitcom My Wife and Kids with a mix of 90s Martin/Fresh Prince of Bel Air flare. Marlon made it clear to me the Marlon he played in the 90s from The Wayans Bros to the Marlon on this current self-tited show they are NOT the same. Both goofy, but present day Marlon is definitely more mature and is definitely family focus. It’s a side of Marlon we haven’t seen yet on the screen, even though he is a father in real life. Marlon is a show that was highly inspired by Marlon’s real life family dynamics and even stories he was able to incorporate into the show.
Marlon also wanted to promote his upcoming Netflix comedy movie called “Naked” debuts August 11th
It’s just really great to see Marlon keep the Wayans family funny legacy going. I have seen a few episodes myself and I was laughing so hard at the show from some of his antic. His co-star, Essence Atkins (also co-star with him in ‘Haunted House’) have amazing chemistry and it is an awesome story-line on a newly divorced parental unit who are remaining friends while coparenting. It’s a show you can definitely watch with your family and bring back family television night with this show! But Marlon has been working, he has not only this show debuting this month but a movie too! He has a Netflix original movie called Naked that he stars in and will be streaming on the platform as well. Check out the trailer for that below.

I’ve loved the Wayans siblings since back in the Days of In Living Color. They are just such talented writers and actors. I will definitely be checking out his new show when I get the chance.

I. Love. MARLON. Since the premier I can be heard singing “Marlon Marlon Marlon Marlon Marlon” everytime it comes on! I have always been a fan of the Wayans but Marlon has taken the life of a YouTuber and gave it a twist I love to watch! Great Show with many seasons ahead I hope!
Marlon has absolutely always been my favorite Wayan! From the Wayans brothers, to 6th man, etc. So happy to see him getting his own show and I look forward to watching it, I caught the first episode and he is too funny!
So I missed the debut but I need to find the show and watch. I loved the 90’s sitcom and we are certainly missing that element in the new generation. So cool that you all were able to interview him at a round table discussion.

I love Marlon’s new show. I have not watched his new movie yet but his show is hysterical! I really hope it sticks around!
