From Magic Kingdom to Shark Tank: Draymond’s Surprise for Teen Dreamer!
At Disney Dreamers Academy in Walt Disney World Resort, Daymond John of ‘Shark Tank’ fame orchestrated a heartwarming surprise for Te’Lario Watkins II, a talented young entrepreneur from Ohio. The 16-year-old Watkins, founder of Tiger Mushroom Farms and the Garden Club Project, was left in awe as John personally invited him to the set of ‘Shark Tank’ in Los Angeles during a media interview. It was a magical moment that Watkins had only dreamed of, now coming to life before his eyes.
From the tender age of 7, Watkins has been nurturing his passion for entrepreneurship through his mushroom cultivation business, Tiger Mushroom Farms, and his non-profit initiative, the Garden Club Project, which strives to combat food insecurities in his community. His dedication and drive have not gone unnoticed, culminating in this extraordinary opportunity to visit the set of a renowned television show alongside a business titan like Daymond John.
During a personal media interview at Disney Dreamers Academy, Te’Lario Watkins II was taken aback by a surprise visit from John, who extended a personal invitation for him to visit the ABC show set in Los Angeles. John expressed his admiration for Te’Lario, encouraging him to surpass his own achievements, and invited him to an exclusive taping of Shark Tank to gain inspiration from fellow entrepreneurs and witness firsthand how investment pitches are managed.
Alongside luminaries like Olympian Sanya Richards-Ross, actor Lance Gross, and Disney star Dara Renee, Daymond John is just one of the inspiring mentors and speakers at Disney Dreamers Academy. Now celebrating its 17th year, this transformative five-day event aims to empower and guide 100 Black high school students and teens from underrepresented communities nationwide, opening doors to new possibilities and expanding horizons for the next generation of leaders and visionaries.
At just 7 years old, Te’Lario II kicked off Tiger Mushroom Farms after a Cub Scout Project. He sold his mushrooms at local farmers markets, catching the eye of various media outlets and even featuring on the Steve Harvey Show!
Now, Tiger Mushroom Farms offers fresh shiitake and oyster mushrooms at Farmers Markets like Worthington, Westgate, and the Franklin Park Conservatory Farmers Market. Te’Lario is a Hunger Hero with No Kid Hungry, organizing an annual Friendsgiving to raise funds and awareness for ending hunger. Recently honored as a 20 Under 20 Youth Leader by the Mayor of Columbus, Te’Lario also surprises markets across the area.
