Orange Is The New Black | No Really It Is! Monday 07 July, 2014
Have you heard Orange is the new black this summer? Netflix fast growing cult com-drama exclusive series “Orange Is The New Black” is definitely one of my favorite shows but it is also a trending beauty shade this season too. Let’s talk about the show first.
So if you haven’t been keeping up with this series, hello??! What rock are you hiding under and why? This show is literally everything, and I mean everything. This show is about the women perspective of prison lifestyle that does an excellent job telling backstories, sheds light on all the diversity that is in the institutions (race, age, religion, sexuality) along with lots of laughter. The storyline is amazing…I mean Piper’s transition from the 1st to the 2nd season is a huge transformation and I am just completely glued to this series. Wow the Morello backstory, the girly-Long Island accent-bride obsessed one,completely shocked me! I had no clue…jaw dropped and I still havent picked it back up from watching that episode.

So what I learned about the show is that even though these women are incarcerated, some are still very femininely and have woman needs…a lot of needs that we take for granted. For example Morello (above in tub) always wore her signature shade of red daily by scrapping the top of her nail with a swipe of color with her contraband worn down lipstick to keep her girly personality afloat. Beauty products really are a part of my life and I don’t think I could imagine a life without being able to use them or get more! I’ve also notice a lot pops of orange springing about here and there so I decided to create a cute post on my favorite Orange-que themed beauty products out right now.

1. St.Ives Blemish Control Apriot Scrub – I love a great facial scrub. Now although apricots aren’t orange (they are fruit cousins) this product derives from the actual fruit extract and a great exfoliate. It has gentle micro-beads to get into the pores without feeling like it scrapes your face for a clean smooth finish.
2. Milani Lipstick Sweet Nectar – Orange lips are definitely the new red this summer. I was very interested in finding my own shade of orange lipstick (because I always wear red) and surprising this was an awesome shade of an orange lippy. Milani lipsticks is one of my favorite brands of drugstore lipsticks as seen here with its pigmented products. I love this shade of orange it’s perfect – definitely a great red replacement or to try something new.
3.Clean & Clear Morning Burst Facial Scrub – I have been using this product since my teen years and it’s still one of my favorite morning beauty products. I am not a morning person at all, but smelling this citrus-y product provides a “burst” of energy just as they say it will. This is a great facial scrub as well that has vitamin C & ginseng ingredients in it.
4. Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Polish Sun Kissed – I am a nail polish junkie, and this summer I change my colors very frequently. Orange is definitely one of my go-to nail colors for the summer because it is bright and vibrant pigment. The Sally Hansen brand is definitely one of my favorites for the price and the high pigments and selections.
5.Yes to Carrots Daily Moisture Body Lotion – I have been a huge fan of the Yes to brand. It’s one of the few mainstream beauty brands that sells retail natural products. This lotion is a mixed of carrots and sweet potatoes and one of my favorite oils, jojoba is also a main ingredient in this product. You can buy this product at Target store…but I actually scored this at Ross for only $2.99! I love finding great deals there for half the price!

Kiwi I too love Orange is the New Black. I can not wait to see how it is going to unfold in the next season. I love the St. Ives scrubs, I use them on my whole body. I obviously need to try the Yes to Carrots products, I see them everywhere.

I still haven’t watched OITNB, but I have been hearing about it everywhere. My daughter has been wearing orange lipstick and nail polish lately, though.
I’ve used St Ives FOREVER for my face. It’s a classic. OITNB is kind of my favorite. Morello really shined this season (even if she is a looney tunes).
I’m not sure I can pull off orange lipstick, but I’d be willing to try. I’ve only watched the pilot episode of the show so far, but eventually I will get caught up!

I saw one episode and I was tired, so I was falling asleep. I need to watch it again. I really do.
I’ve tried orange on my toes and fingers but I never even thought to try a lipstick. I think I’m going to branch out and at least try it!

I adore OITNB and I love my St. Ives Apricot scrub. Its the only thing I use on my feet and legs.
